James Joyce, Tommaso del Buono and Salih Adalier

In April I photographed the artist James Joyce for the online edition of Hole & Corner Magazine at his studio in Shoreditch.
You can find the full article here: www.holeandcornermagazine.com

A few weeks back I also photographed the garden designer Tommaso del Buono at home in London for the Telegraph Magazine's "The World of..." section. The story will be published in this Saturday's edition of the magazine, ahead of the opening of the Chelsea Flower Show, where Tommaso designed this years Telegraph garden.

But for me the most interesting has been making a short portrait film about photographer Salih Adalier together with David San Millán del Río. I have known Salih for a number of years and this January, knowing he was about to sell the building that houses his studio, David and I decided to go back to capture it on film before it was too late.
The film was commissioned by Accent Magazine and Issue 5, featuring our film is now online:

London's small specialist businesses. A few more and book soon...

Over the last six years have been working on a project about small scale, specalist businesses and their owners in London. Finally this year I will draw the project to a close and publish it as a book. In April I went and photohraphed and talked to a few more people to complete the project. Here is a glimpse of those last additions ... more news on the book soon.

Thomas Braun

I just came accross this photograph of my father. He came to visit me and we took a one week trip to Cornwall last February; a sort of as a 70th birthday present to him. I took this picture of him on the beach in West Bay near Bridport in Dorset on the way down.

The World in London

Back in 2010 I photographed Serena Viti, an Italian Astronomer working at UCL, for the Photographers' Gallery's "The World in London" project.

The photographers' Gallery invited 204 photographers to make a portrait each of someone who lives in London but originates from one of the 204 nations competing in the 2012 London Olympics. The project forms part of the London 2012 Festival, the finale of the Cultural Olympiad and is on display outdoors at Victoria Park, E3, until 12. August and at Park House, 453 - 497 Oxford Street until 30. August. There is also a dedicated website: http://www.theworldinlondon.org.uk/, which also features, interviews with the sitters and photographers.

Portraits

I took these portraits a couple of months ago and have only now finally had time to scan them and put them up here.

Sian Evans is a jeweller, a designer, a craftswoman and an academic. I photographed her in her studio with some of her tools, precious objects in themselves.

Daniel Hernandez is an unconventional sort of clown. As Hernandez the clown he develops and performs his own pieces. I photographed him at home in his shared warehouse conversion in North London.
